Cultural Roots & Leadership Programs

The Cultural Roots and Leadership team utilizes a cultural powerbuilding strategy to foster leadership and cultural enrichment rooted in the exploration of Filipino and BIPOC identities. We recognize the ever-changing landscape of HiFi and its neighboring communities and embrace this change. We believe that true community mobilization occurs through the cultivation of leaders who harness their cultural heritage to inspire and guide others. ​

Fund a Need

Hiraya Teatro - Our students want and need safe spaces to express themselves artistically. This year, we are looking to pilot our Hiraya Teatro Program which focuses on developing our youth’s ability to use theater/performing arts to tap into personal development, community healing and activism. When students are able to participate in creative spaces, they are able to build a strong sense of self, find a sense of belong and explore ways to connect their creativity to a larger community purpose.

Scholarship Fund for Young Leaders - Our high school and college-aged interns dedicate countless hours of energy, creativity, and leadership to uplift our community. Many are students balancing academics, family responsibilities, and jobs, all while volunteering their time in our programs. A scholarship helps remove financial barriers and affirms that their goals, dreams, and leadership matter.
